how Exercising at Home has allowed me to stay consistent with movement during each phase of motherhood
Exercising at home as a mum can be so hard as there are honestly always 10,000 other things you could be doing..
I know, I’ve been there! Before having kids I worked in a gym and pilates studio and never had to consider this as an option! THEN covid hit and what was once normal to leave the house to exercise changed the game for us all..
In this blog post, I’m sharing How at Home Exercise has allowed me to stay consistent with movement during pregnancy, recover postpartum to be symptoms and pain free post c-section and now to have seen real results and change my body shape and boost my energy as a busy toddler mum
So if you’re tired of not seeing results from your training, wanting to adapt and live a healthier lifestyle and exercise more regularly but struggling, not having anyone in your area who specialises working with pregnant, postpartum mums, you struggle with leaking, incontinence, prolapse and want to work hard to have quality of living and enjoy motherhood you are in the right place. All of that is about to change for good!!
I myself had to change my perception of what was “normal” for exercise and this honestly was the beginning of embracing short, effective at home workouts infusing pilates, strength, mobility, barre and hiit with minimal equipment that can all be done in your living room!
When I fell pregnant with my son in 2020 I knew things needed to change that mums needed access to specialised pregnancy exercise classes, postpartum rehab and for busy mums to exercise from home during nap time or with kids in tow in a way that felt authentic and easy to integrate into their lifestyle. This vision evolved into Flos Motherhood my virtual community for mums and I am so god damn thankful I took to leap and believed in myself.
To be honest the TWO positives to come out of this isolating experience have been
Number ONE: embracing at home exercise (being okay with it not being perfect, and most of the time the workouts are interrupted or cut short and being okay with this).
Number TWO: creating a community and safe space online for mums to come together to move their bodies, to normalise taking care of ourselves and becoming the first generation of mothers who actually prioritise our health, wellness and fitness as a normal part of our lives without the mum guilt.
Since 2021 I have not only followed my own at home workouts during pregnancy, to help my body heal post c-section and now as a busy toddler mum those 10-15 minute classes have been the key factor to staying consistent (not just saying oh ill go to the gym tomorrow but instead claiming - actually Ill set George up with an activity and do ten minutes - and he can join in with me too - because something is better than nothing) for my mental and physical health.
